Arm lift is an effective surgical operation that is used to strengthen the skin of the upper part of the hands, as well as to treat a medical condition of deformation known as «bat wings».
This procedure is aimed at changing the shape of the hands – smoothing the skin and gaining contours, which helps to improve tone and provide a more harmonious appearance.
Possible Side Effects
- Seroma formation
Before Arm Lift
1 month before the procedure, stop smoking. Also, a month before this operation, it is necessary to stop taking drugs that increase the risk of bleeding (aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs and some groups of vitamins). It may also be necessary to pass blood tests and evaluation of the heart.
Stop eating and drinking fluids after the time specified by your doctor 1 day before Arm Lift. Prepare a bag with comfortable shoes and clothes (clothes should be spacious, with buttons or zippers).
Have a bath or shower without using body lotion.
During Arm Lift
Liposuction is often used to correct sagging skin of the upper arms. There are two types of brachioplasty.
Partial tightening of the skin of the hands is carried out with a small incision in the armpit, which can slightly stretch up to the inner side of the shoulder. With extensive brachioplasty, a linear incision is made from the armpit to the elbow.
Arm Lift and liposuction can be applied simultaneously, in the course of one operation, to remove excess adipose tissue, stimulate the skin to acquire elasticity and match the new contours of the arms.
After the Operation
The day after the Arm Lift procedure, you will be provided with a special postoperative kit and medications that include painkillers, anti-inflammatory drugs and antibiotics.
Avoid stress and exercising on your hands. Avoid driving and have a rest. It would be better if someone helped you during the first week after the surgery.
Most patients experience muscle discomfort approximately 7 to 10 days after Arm Lift surgery, so it is vital to take your medication according to the prescriptions.
